Eternity Rings Meaning and History
Married women are often seen with eternity rings wrapping their finger. Usually the rings show a band of valuable metal set and a continuous line of gemstones which are cut identically. For the band, gold is usually used. As you find out more about eternity rings, you may also find what are called as half eternity rings.
The Meaning and History of Eternity Rings
The eternity rings have certain meaning. Just like what the name indicates, the rings are meant and to symbolize eternal love. As the rings are lady’s rings, they are usually gifts from husbands. Mostly, they are given to commemorate special occasions, such as wedding anniversary. As for the half eternity ring, it is a variation which features the precious stones arranged only for the face of ring since arranging them to wrap the band can be awkward to wear.
The concept of the rings was first created back in 1960s by De Beers. De Beers started a promotion and campaign of jewelry with a number of smaller diamonds for eternity rings. Older and married women are the targeted customers. That was caused by issues related to De Beers’ secret agreement with Soviet Union to establish a single channel that controlled diamond’s supply throughout the world.
